A good rebound week last week. I finished with a record of 8-8. Not great, but after the first week where I had a record of 5-11, I’ll take a .500 week. And if you want to use these two weeks as a trend, that means I’m due for an 11-5 week this time around.
Anyways, on to the picks.
Kansas City Chiefs at Philadelphia Eagles, Eagles favoured by 9 1/2
If Donovan McNabb plays, then maybe this spread is okay, but even then it would be a stretch. Sure, the Chiefs are 0-2, but they have been great so far. We know they can score in bunches, and should give the Eagles a run for their money. Kansas City to cover.
New York Giants at Tampa Bay Lightning, Giants favoured by 6 1/2
The Giants have played great ball so far this season, and their running game has not even gotten going yet. I expect that to change this week. Giants to win.
Green Bay Packers at St. Louis Rams, Packers favoured by 6 1/2
This is a spread that was dictated by last week’s games. Green Bay is not as bad as they looked last week, and St. Louis isn’t as good as they looked against the Redskins. Look for the Pack to dominate this game from the get-go.
San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings, Vikings favoured by 6 1/2
What is it with all these 6 1/2 spreads? Anyways, while the 49ers have been playing inspired football, they’ll meet their match this week. The Vikings just have too many weapons, and one of the best defences in the league. Vikings to win.
Tennessee Titans at New York Jets, Jets favoured by 2 1/2
The Jets have looked good so far this season. The Titans haven’t. Jets to win.
Atlanta Falcons at New England Patriots, Patriots favoured by 4 1/2
The Pats have not looked good this year. They barely beat the Bills, and lost to the Jets. I think they’ll beat Atlanta, but won’t beat the spread. Falcons to cover.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans, Texans favoured by 3 1/2
Jacksonville is so bad that some are saying the team should move. That’s pretty bad. Houston hasn’t been great this year, but they should be able to win this game pretty easily. Texans to win.
Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions, Redskins favoured by 6 1/2
This is way too big a spread for a Redskins team that can barely beat the Rams. I think the Lions can not only cover the spread, but have a good chance to win their first game in two seasons. Lions to cover.
Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, Ravens favoured by 13 1/2
The Ravens defence will make mincemeat out of the Browns offence. Cleveland has a lot of problems, and the Ravens are ready to expose them all. Even though it’s a big spread, the Ravens should pull this out pretty easily. Ravens to win.
Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks, Bears favoured by 2 1/2
Again, the Bears defence is just too strong. Jay Cutler is starting to find his groove as the Bears quarterback. Seattle seems lost at times, and Seneca Wallace won’t be enough to lead them past the Bears. Bears to win.
New Orleans Saints at Buffalo Bills, Saints favoured by 5 1/2
This is a low spread for the highest scoring team in the league. Although it’s early, it’s quite possible for the Saints to set records in a bunch of offensive categories. Look for Drew Brees to make a mockery of the Bills defence. Saints to win.
Miami Dolphins at San Diego Chargers, Chargers favoured by 6 1/2
The Dolphins have looked average this season after surprising a bunch of teams last year. Unfortunately, average won’t win them many game. Teams are figuring out how to stop the wildcat offence. Look for the Chargers to win.
Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders, Raiders favoured by 1 1/2
When was the last time the Raiders were favourites over anyone? It doesn’t matter, because they won’t cover this spread. The Broncos are 2-0. It’s been ugly, but they’re finding ways to win, and they do it again this week. Broncos to cover.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals, Steelers favoured by 3 1/2
I don’t trust the Bengals enough yet to have them beat a good team like the Steelers. Maybe later in the season, but not quite yet. Steelers to cover.
Indianapolis Colts at Arizona Cardinals, Cardinals favoured by 2 1/2
The Cardinals aren’t good enough to beat a lot of good teams, and the Colts are a great team. Look for the Colts to win this one.
Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys, Cowboys favoured by 9 1/2
Way too big a spread for the Cowboys, who haven’t looked good so far. The Panthers will be pumped up for a Monday night game. I can see Carolina not only covering the spread, but winning outright. Panthers to cover.
