There are plenty of things I don’t understand.
Some are things that I will never understand (how a car works, for example). Others are things I will never want to understand (such as the popularity of So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars).
And then there are things that really confuse me.
Like why the U.S. Justice system seems so out of whack to me.
The other day, Plaxico Burress was sentenced to two years in jail for shooting himself in the leg. Michael Vick, who ran a dog-fighting ring, was sentenced to 23 months. Lee Crider, who stole Lance Armstrong’s bike, received three years in prison. Paris Hilton was sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating probation. Keifer Sutherland was sentenced to drinking and driving, and got 48 days.
Donte Stallworth kills a man while drinking and driving, and gets 30 days in jail (and serves 24 days of it).
What the first five people did was wrong without a doubt, but how can a man who kills someone while drinking and driving get less time than a man who didn’t kill someone while drinking and driving?
Why is a bicycle worth more than a man’s life?
This is just one more thing I don’t understand.
