The next season, in his first full season with the Habs, he scored 43 goals and a career-high 96 points in 76 games. The playoffs were disappointing that year.

The next year, Mahovlich, continued his torrid scoring pace, netting 38 goals and 93 points in 78 games. He had 23 points in 17 games in the postseason as the Habs won the Stanley Cup once again.

After one more season with the Habs, Mahovlich went to the WHA play.
