#63: Jose Theodore
While Jose Theodore no longer gets the respect he once did, when he was with the Montreal Canadiens, he was one of the top goalies in the league.
Theodore was drafted in the second round of the 1994 draft, but he didn’t become the starting goalie with the Habs until 2000-2001. The next year, he won the Vezina trophy as the league’s top goalie and the Hart trophy as the league’s most valuable player.
He routinely made acrobatic saves and would steal many games for the Habs. In 2001, he became one of only nine goalies to score an NHL goal.
One of the most famous photos of the Montreal and Edmonton Oilers outdoor games in 2003, as he wore a Montreal hat on top of his helmet. That year, he won a career-high 33 games.
He won the gold medal in the 1996 with Team Canada at the world junior championships. He has also played in two all-star games.
