In his first full season with the Habs, he scored 21 goals and had 45 points. That helped win him the Calder trophy for being the top NHL rookie.

In 1964, he scored five goals in a game against the Detroit Red Wings, one of only 43 NHL players to score at least five goals in one game.

Twice Rousseau scored 30 goals in a season, and had a career high in points in 1965-66 when he had 78 points. His on-ice play helped him be selected for three all-star games.
