Adolph?

So how stupid do you have to be to name your kid Adolph Hitler?

Pretty stupid, if you ask me.

But that’s what happened in Greenwich Township, Pennsylvania. A couple named Heath and Deborah Campbell decided to name one of their kids Adolf Hitler Campbell. They have another couple of kids, also named after Nazis.

LeighValleyLive.comhas a story about the couple. Deborah and Heath are Holocaust deniers and have swastikas throughout their house.

The important part of the story though, are the quotes from Robert Gordon, a clinical psychologist in Allentown.

“Certainly society is going to be hostile towards those kids, especially when they go to school,” Gordon said.

More than that, he said, the children would be harmed by their parents’ views.

“By the time they get to school, they will already have been damaged,” Gordon said. “Any parent that would impose such horrific names on their children is mentally ill, and they would be affecting their children from the day they were born. Only a crazy person would do that.”

The problems the children might encounter in school, he said, “would be icing on the cake.”

I think that’s the key thing. These kids at home are treated a certain way, but as they go to school and get older, they’ll be picked on, beat up and abused.

That’s the parents job to make sure that doesn’t happen, not to foster it.

Tom, that’s just nuts. The kids should be removed and the parents should be thrown in some kind of mental hospital. I’ve always maintained that you can think of any kind of morbid and sick scenario out there and there are people who do it. This is a good example.
