Googlewhacking done

On my list of things to do that could be complicated was number 53: Find a Googlewhack.

That is now crossed off my list.

First, an explanation of what a Googlewhack is. As many of you know, Google is a great tool to search. For example, searching for ryan coke will give you more than 2.8 million hits.

The trick with getting a Googlewhack is to search two words (have to be between four and 30 letters), and have it return exactly one result. There are a few rules, such as the one link it finds cannot be a word list or a dictionary, and it has to be real words in the Google dictionary.

I came close a couple of times, first using words with nationalistic. When that didn’t work, I tried zwitterionic (a molecule with both a positive and negative charge). When that didn’t work, I switched to semipublicly. I tried using the word rhino with it, but it turned up zero results, which is actually easier than finding just one result.

I then found a Googlewhack using semipublicly with unreasonableness. But the official web site (found here) informed me it was already found. Undaunted, I kept trying, using words from that one document I had already located. I finally found it with semipublicly and unattainability. If you look it up, you will now probably find two web sites, since this page would be included. Click here to see the search results.

To see my Googlewhack in the last 200 ones found, click here.

Now that is done, it’s off to the next item on my bucket list.

  4. The best tip I can think of is to find a more obscure word, and then visit that web page. Using that first word, try to find another obscure word on that page, and see if that gets you one.
