Every vote counts

Although the American presidential election ended on Tuesday with Barack Obama winning, and the Canadian national election ended last month with Stephen Harper winning, never let it be said your vote doesn’t count.

In Lincoln County in Mississippi, Janie Sisco had 1,580 votes is her battle to be elected commissioner. The incumbent Charles Smith, who has been there for 20 years, received 1,579.

That’s right. Just one vote decided the election. How many people do you think never bothered to show up because they believe their vote doesn’t count. They could have swung the election the other way. That’s power.

And that’s why you should never taking it for granted, and vote for every election you can. You never know what will happen.
