The name of this web site comes from an interview I did in March of 2008. My name is Tom Collins, and I always get asked if I know it’s an alcoholic drink. This one lady asked if I would ever change my name to Ryan Coke (Rye and Coke). I thought it was pretty funny, and seemed like a good name for my blog.
If it helps, I was also born in Newfoundland, on St. Patrick’s Day, but I have never drank, which seems to confuse some people. I just never picked it up. No biggie.
If there’s anything else you would like to know, drop me a line at theryancokeexperience@gmail.com.

Nice man! I always hated idol (sp?) chit-chat. the same joke over and over again. Like “Cold enough for ya?” But the Ryan Coke? that just takes a bad joke and makes it hilarious! I love it when someone puts a different twist on an old joke and make it new again!

Good name. But I got to tell you I was smart enough to figure it out before reading your blog explanation. OK, I didn’t know the old lady thing, but I said “hey, ‘Ry-an coke’ is a drink like Tom Collins is” S-M-R-T

Back in 2006, I used to see a guy at Oilers games who always wore a “Ryan Coke” jersey. Was that you?

Sorry, not me. I’ve never been to Edmonton (although it’s my goal to see a game there live).
