While most people living in Ottawa are probably more aware of Jason York, Team 1200 radio host, instead of Jason York, NHL player, the former had a pretty good career with the Senators.
Although he was never the team’s top offensive talent, York carved a little niche with the Sens as a leader and a top-four defencemen.
In his five years with the team, he scored 25 goals (fifth all-time), 99 assists (third all-time), and currently sits at fourth all-time in points with 124.
In 1998-99, his 35 points led the team in defencemen scoring.
Nowadays, York is a fixture on the Ottawa sports scene through the media. He’s a host of the Healthy Scratches, an afternoon sports talk radio show. He has a weekly column in the Ottawa Sun. And he does some Senators games for Sportsnet.
