New Edmonton Oilers coach Pat Quinn isn’t used to losing.
He was successful as coach of the Maple Leafs, and has led young teams to gold medals at several tournaments in the last few years.
Now, he’s back in the NHL, as the Oilers try to find a way to make the playoffs (they haven’t seen the postseason since losing Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals four seasons ago).
The Oilers will have some success this year, but Quinn better be ready for quite a bit of disappointment.
Story of the season:How will players react after not being traded? Three Oilers were rumoured to be shipped to Ottawa for Dany Heatley: Ladislav Smid, Dustin Penner and Andrew Cogliano. Now these guys will be asked to be the leaders and the future of this franchise. There’s no telling how they’ll respond.

Pool Picks:Ales Kotalik. He had 11 points in 19 games with the Oilers last when he was traded late in the season. Look for him to continue that this season, and finish with about 65 points. Stay away from:Sheldon Souray. He has one good year, followed by one bad year. Expect this year to be his bad year, and he’ll finish with about 30 points thanks to injuries.
Award nominees: Tom Gilbert for the Norris
Expected Finish: Fourth in the Northwest, 12th in the West
Cheerleader:Rochelle Loewen is from Edmonton. That’s the best link I can get.
