Top 100 Habs: #59

#59: Billy Reay

Billy Reay is often forgotten when it comes to the history of the Montreal Canadiens, but he definitely had an impact on the team.

Reay played 10 seasons in the NHL, eight of them for the Habs (the other two seasons lasted two games each with the Detroit Red Wings).

But Reay was the second-line centre on the Canadiens team, behind Elmer Lach. Twice, he scored his career high of 22 goals in a season.

He was also an effective two-way player, having a strong defensive side to his game.

He won two Stanley Cups with the Habs: one in 1946 and the other in 1953.

He would later go on to be a successful head coach with the Chicago Blackhawks.
