Fast food ban

So the Los Angeles city council has banned fast food outlets in south L.A.
No more fast food restaurants will be allowed to open for one year.
The theory is there isn’t enough quality food in the area, so the residents eat more fast food and get bigger. This is a way to get them healthier.
According to [...]

Jilted bride

So a woman (RoseMary Shell) is about to get married, and her fiancee (Wayne Gibbs) leaves her three days before the wedding.
It’s happened before, and it will probably happen again.
Unless someone hears about this story. Shell brought her would-be husband to court, and won $150,000 in a settlement.
That’s crazy.
And it sets a dangerous precedent. What [...]

Autograph collecting

I collect autographs. It’s one of my favourite things and my favourite hobby. I even included a couple of autograph-related items on things I’ve always wanted to do.
Unfortunately, I haven’t had as much time to spend on autograph collecting the last few years. I keep hoping that will change, but except for a couple of [...]

More on Sundin

Apparently, Mats Sundin is not interested in money, or interested in Stanley Cups. That’s what Ken Campbell of The Hockey News writes (read it here).
So that means Sundin will want to go back to the Toronto Maple Leafs. My big question is why? Campbell makes a lot of big assumptions in his article: If Sundin [...]

Recycling needed

Okay, I’m going to make this real simple, so even politicans can understand this.
If a group is holding a big event, and they’re selling anything that needs to be recycled afterwards (cans of pop, water bottles, etc.), they must have recycling boxes at the location. If not, they don’t get the permit to hold the [...]

Another weird name story

Less than a month ago, I blogged about people who name their kids stupid things. I wondered why people would call their kids a name that would get them teased (you can read that posting here).
Now, a new story has come out, where a judge in New Zealand has forced a family to change the [...]

Global warming

Well, where is it?
Wasn’t the water all being used? Weren’t there chances of too many droughts?
All I know is that in Ottawa, we had the second most snowfall ever for a winter, and this summer has been nothing but rain. The forecast either calls for rain everyday, or it rains everyday.
A little bit of sunshine [...]

Missing child

Once again, a person shows why we should seriously considering letting people have a licence before they’re allowed to reproduce.
In Florida, Caylee Marie Anthony went missing. So the mom decided to tell the police… a month later! The girl went missing on June 9, and the mother, Casey Anthony, told the police about it only recently.
Police [...]

NHL honours

So the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to honour former captains Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour. Clark will have his jersey (#17) retired before a game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 22. Gilmour will have his jersey (#93) retired before a Jan. 31 game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
I’m all in favour of jersey retirements, [...]

Sandwich artists

It’s not a difficult concept.
I run to Subway for lunch, where they have so-called Subway artists. I ask for lots of lettuce. They always put the same amount on it. Always I have to ask for more. Is it really that difficult to put extra lettuce on my sub?
Then I ask for tomatoes and green [...]
