Sens new coach

So the Ottawa Senators have announced their new coach is Craig Hartsburg (of course, this was after all the media in Ottawa tagged Peter DeBoer as the sure thing to be the new coach earlier this week).

This guy, who has a losing record in the NHL as a coach, has been coaching the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for the past few years. He’s expected to get the locker room back after the team pretty much gave up on the season in February, when they were first in the conference.

But it’s easy to tell why he was chosen. From the snippets of the press conference I heard, he speaks in the same monotone voice as his boss, general manager Bryan Murray, and his predecessor, John Paddock. In fact, he’s the latest in a long line of such speaker (add Jacques Martin to that list as well).

It would have been nice to see someone who shows fire and passion, even during the interviews.
